Happy New Years! 2020. Crazy. I remember when it was New Year’s 2000. 20 years, since even then. Crazy.
Edwin and Vera had so much fun fishing last week that Edwin went back out today with Pete & Paul.
I still wasn’t feeling well, so had a pretty mellow day around the house and then getting ready for some festivities.
It was pretty mellow night, but ended up being better than I first though it may be.
Edwin, Paul, & Pete went fishing so we had planned to have a night of chucking and eating crab. Julia’s came over, Cunci, Pete, & Szili. Doubrava’s came over. Along with Okamoto’s. The fisherman were beat so everything mellowed out before midnight, but we still had a good time.
Happy Birthday Isabella! 12 ! My little baby, a pre-teen. Boy do I remember being teased by my older siblings by calling me a “pre-teen” for my entire 12th year of life. Excited to pay it forward 🙂
It was a rainy day and Isabella sprained her ankle a few days ago so it was a perfect day for legos.
Julia’s came over for dinner and Isabella’s dinner request this year…Pesto Pasta and Caesar Salad.
Good day. Good vibes. Isabella is 12 and is now officially taller than me. What a beautiful, smart, lovely young lady she’s growing in to. I’m one lucky mama.
The girls have been sleeping over at Julia’s the last 2 days so after Julia took Isabella on a little pre-birthday shopping spree it was time to pick them up. Isabella was stoked.
And when we got back home it was time for party #2. This time it was with her 2 good friends from her class. We went to Jumanji and she had another RV sleepover. Lucky punk 😉
What a crazy day. The gym opens at 9am this morning, but we went in at 6:30 to do the last minute things. The “lobby” furniture had to be put into place, last minute cleaning, electricians were still in the women’s locker room this morning getting the lights on.
My parents were in, Edwin was there, Mike, Zsolt’s girls were there filling up soap bottles and we only got out of the locker room at 8:52 this morning.
We didn’t know what to expect. It’s a slow week in the city. We hadn’t focused on pre-selling memberships for the Transbay location like they normally do. Basically they wanted to open up the club on time and be open before the end of the year. We didn’t know what to expect. I had even planned to go to the movies with Edwin that day in the middle of the day.
The day was Great! We had about 10 members waiting outside at 9am ready to work out. The gym was busy all day. We had lots of members coming to check it out. And even without the yoga, spin, and aerobics class rooms not complete we were getting real positive feedback. My brothers are really good at delivering a high quality product, both in design, materials, facilities, equipment, and layout. It was really exciting to see people excited enough to come on opening day, working out. I had gone to the equinox opening day last week to check it out…and you can’t say anything bad about the product they deliver…but when I was their on opening day there was exactly “zero” people working out there.
It’s an amazing space, in an amazing location.
Edwin and I were beat by the end of the day but we ended up going out dancing in the city for a minute to listen it’s my cousin Dee‘s husband spent in the city.
Opening day tomorrow. All hands on deck. The girls happyily went over to Julia’s to play and spend the night so that we could go into work all day and not worry about the kiddos.
Still getting the lockers 100%. Doing last minute moving of the equipment. Lots of cleaning.
A lot of the sub-contractors are behind so they have continued working after we placed the rubber flooring and equipment was delivered. The result of this is there is a much bigger mess to clean up because construction is still occurring in places where the final touches are also being done.
I happily spent most of the day on my knees crawling around the gym picking up all the electrical wiring garbage left behind by the electricians that conveniently got stuck between the cracks of the rubber flooring.
We are going to open tomorrow. We are not at 100%. But if you had been here 1 week ago you would not have guessed that the gym would have gotten this far.
We nice little family Christmas in the morning. Waking up Christmas morning at my moms was bettter than I anticipated. We were all a little bummed not to be in our home, with our decorations, etc… but we had a real nice morning.
The morning was short-lived because we had 40 people coming over at 1pm so we quickly jumped into cleaning up/getting ready mode/party mode.
Of course we also had to do our traditional and most favorite holly cookies.
Christmas was lovely. Food was great. Family was mellow. Kids played. Families sang. Everyone had a good time.
Merry Christmas Eve 🎄 When we were growing up we always celebrated Christmas the European way so Christmas Eve was always Christmas. As a family now with our children we celebrate Christmas in the traditional American way but to me, once its Christmas Eve, its Christmas. And I love Christmas 🙂 🎄
Nana made an amazing brunch for Christmas Eve. It’s obvious she’s spent days in the kitchen getting ready for today and the next few days. Nana has a flair for parties and presentation so its especially fun to see her new recipes and how everything is presented. We had a lovely Xmas Eve morning brunch with family and friends.
We headed back to Oakland for the 5 0’clock Xmas eve mass. It was nice to see and give hugs to many Corpus friends that evening.
Julia’s came over to my moms and we had a delicious and our family (growing up) tradition of having mushroom soup and fish for xmas eve dinner. But better than any other year…was that we ate the amazingly fresh fish Edwin and Vera caught the other day. It was so delicious. Julia’s stayed for a bit after dinner, but not long because we knew tomorrow would be a big day and we wanted the girls to get a good nights sleep.
Edwin and I did our usual Xmas eve evening of after getting the girls asleep and helping the Christmas elves, we went down to Jason and Adams Xmas eve party and had a night cap.
Christmas is close. We must complete the gingerbread house. So we assembled the house and decorated. The girls really stepped up their decorating game this year. Loving it. Baking in general, making a gingerbread house is definitely one of my favorite memories with my sister as we would get ready for xmas.
While I let the girls decorate the house without micromanaging this year… I made a Buche de Noel for Christmas dinner tonight.
We drove the RV up to Nana’s tonight to celebrate Christmas, spend the evening, and have Christmas Eve brunch together. We knew there would be traffic, but wasn’t expecting it to take 2 1/2 hours to get to Santa Rosa. Every time we are in a home for a few days, we inevitably forget what its like to drive our home again. The drive up felt crazy…so much moving.
Nana is an really good cook and of course we had a really nice dinner with Lee and Sally. It was a real nice evening around the Christmas tree. I got an amazing little red hat from Nana for my birthday that Vera quickly adopted and I’m pretty sure I’ll never see it again. Nana had a big brunch planned for the morning so after we enjoyed each other’s company, the lights of the Christmas tree, opened presents, and played some piano we all retired on the early side.
The FITNESS SF Christmas party is tonight. I thought I had an outfit, but its raining and the last thing I feel like is wearing a skirt or heels in the rain walking around the Transbay building and touring the gym.
I borrowed a few things from friends, but still ran down to Nordstroms last minute and found something comfortable to wear.
The party was fun as usual. There was an open house of the gym, which still has a lot of work to do to get opened this Friday. But every day it is getting closer. In reality, everyone is concentrating on getting the gym ready so it wasn’t the best holiday party but we always have fun…. BUT The food was amazing! The girls spend half the night in the photo booth and we walked home with about 30 strips of pictures. The dessert bar was great. And the best part was by far the girls cat-walking 🐱 with Miss Mark. He was a good teacher and the girls were eating it up.
