Edwin woke up at 5am and started driving. It was a weird night. For the first time at a Walmart a security guard came up to Edwin and said we needed to inside and ask permission to stay overnight. Which he did. And then about a half later after we were already in bed the security guy parked right at our butt all night with his lights on us. It was uncomfortable, but were too tired to co to us driving, but that is what got Edwin up in the am and get a move on.

We saw the sunrise as we drove on the highway along Miami, but we just wanted to get through Florida without having to stop.

I went and snuggled with the girls at 7am and slept for a few hours.

Even after a long morning nap I was quite selfishly cranky most of the day that we are going home. Its really the only smart/safe option, but yes I’m still selfishly bummed.

We made it all the way to Destin, Florida which we missed on the way over in lieu of beating feet to Disney. I’m happy we at least got to see it here. We stopped at an RV park because last night was pretty unbearable not being plugged in with the AC on. Vera was an awesome co pilot and read out loud to me while I was driving.

The RV park was right on the beach. Because the sand is private property of the RV park we were able to enjoy the white sand the Florida panhandle offers. No one is allowed in the water as all public beaches are closed.

The water looks amazing here. It’s called the “Emerald Coast”. I’ve never heard of it before we came this way. On the west coast of Florida the sand was. Nice, but we didn’t love the water. (granted we didn’t go to all the “nicest” beaches on the west coast because we had to go where it was either RV or dog friendly) Here the water looks very tempting.

We were just happy to be outside as we spent the entire day in the car. Everyone needed to get a little energy out.

We bought scallops on the way out of the Keys and they were amazing. Easily the best scallops we’ve ever had.

I’m happy to be in Destin. I’m glad we made the big drive over here. A good place to stay the night.
